From Hunger to Belief
We are almost constantly in a state of hunger or thirst, or both. From our earliest hours on this planet, we crave food and milk. Throughout life we are on a quest to find satisfaction but we soon discover that no matter how much or what we eat or drink we are hungry and thirsty again only hours later. These primal desires for food and water serve as a great metaphor for our spiritual condition and the desire we have for something outside of ourselves that will satisfy us. Jesus talks to his disciples not only about living water that brings eternal life but a food source that brings purpose and fulfillment. He says we can share in this food and water and in them we'll find the deepest level of satisfaction that we could ever imagine.
