What is an Elder?

Simply put, elders are pastor-shepherds of the church family. 1 Peter 5:2-4 instructs elders to “Shepherd the flock of God among you,” along with specific descriptors. This metaphorical imagery portrays leaders who pastor a church with a shepherding mindset, which primarily includes leading, feeding, caring, and protecting. The elders are the servants of the church body who stand accountable before the Chief Shepherd – Jesus Christ – in their faithful stewardship of God’s flock.  All of our elders must demonstrate a lifestyle that upholds the biblical qualifications of an elder (1 Timothy 3:1-7 & Titus 1:5-9).

As a church, we always want to cultivate accessibility with our leadership. If you call TSF your home church and would like to meet with one of the elders for any reason, please contact them at the email addresses above.

Elder Update (December 7, 2021)

Another year is coming to an end, and that is always bittersweet thing, isn’t it?  There’s something about the passage of time that is sad.  It means good things are often coming to an end and relationships are changing and seasons of life are passing by at warp speed!  But there’s something good about it too.  New opportunities.  Distance between ourselves and painful circumstances.  Wisdom that can come with perspective and time.  We pray that this December is a great time of celebration, introspection, comfort and anticipation for you and our entire TSF Family!

As we wrap up 2021, there are a few things we want you to be mindful of.  Our More than Words offering is in full swing – make sure you give faithfully to support our missionaries that are local and all over the world!  We host the orphan boys from Life’s Purpose on Sunday, December 5, for our annual Christmas Celebration.  Sign up to bring some food, get your boys’ gifts, and be with us that day to worship the Lord who rescues all of us who are orphans and lost in this world!  December 19-22 will see about 37 of our people go to Big Heart Orphanage in Reynosa, MX, to minister to the children and school there.  Be in prayer for this team as they go to represent Christ and TSF.

Christmas weekend will be a wonderful time for family and worship at TSF!  On Christmas Eve, we will host two services, one at 330pm and the other at 5 pm.  After each service, there will be a crazy hot chocolate bar, amazing coffee flavors, tamales, Christmas cookies for the kids to decorate, and photo booths for you and your family to snap a quick Christmas pic.  Be sure to make one of these Christmas Eve services an important part of your family’s Christmas celebrations!  On December 26, we will not have in-person services at TSF.  We will have a special online service that will begin at 10am.  It will center around the manger scene and have some interactive activities for your family.   Watch for details and be sure to take advantage of this unique day-after-Christmas worship experience.

TSF offices are closed December 24-January 1.  We will have in-person worship at TSF on Sunday, January 2, 2022.

Whew- that’s a lot!  TSF has always been blessed with people who want to live for the Good News of Christ, who want to be out in the world showing a lost and hurting world what it looks like to be loved and changed by God.  We are confident that 2022 and beyond will give us many more opportunities to do that together and to invite many others to join us.  We love all of you and we look forward to all that 2022 has for us in the Kingdom work of God at TSF!
