What is an Elder?

Simply put, elders are pastor-shepherds of the church family. 1 Peter 5:2-4 instructs elders to “Shepherd the flock of God among you,” along with specific descriptors. This metaphorical imagery portrays leaders who pastor a church with a shepherding mindset, which primarily includes leading, feeding, caring, and protecting. The elders are the servants of the church body who stand accountable before the Chief Shepherd – Jesus Christ – in their faithful stewardship of God’s flock.  All of our elders must demonstrate a lifestyle that upholds the biblical qualifications of an elder (1 Timothy 3:1-7 & Titus 1:5-9).

As a church, we always want to cultivate accessibility with our leadership. If you call TSF your home church and would like to meet with one of the elders for any reason, please contact them at the email addresses above.

Elder Update (July 14, 2021)

What a wonderful summer we have all had!  So many of our church family have hit the road again, going on vacations and seeing family and enjoying life after emerging from the craziness of 2020.  We pray that this has been a time of refreshing and restoration for all who have been able to take some time off to breathe and relax some this summer!

Ministry at TSF has been going strong all Spring and Summer.  Our Refuge group went to Reynosa, Mexico, in late May and ministered to the orphans and the children at the local school.  Sanctus Students went to Donna, TX, in early June and worked on a new house for a family living in poverty, served at a center for food and clothing distribution, lead in community outreach and facilitated a community VBS.  We currently have 3 of our young people in Reynosa at Big Heart Orphanage serving for the month of July.  We have the privilege of financially and spiritual supporting these group while they serve and we are thrilled about what the Lord is doing through them!

Missionally , we have over 45 volunteers who will meet at TSF on July 17 to pack 10, 000 meals that will be shipped all over the country and the world to help those who have been affected by the loss of jobs and income due to the coronavirus shutdowns.   We have sent Pastor James in Africa the quarterly support money for the orphans and school as they go through their 3rd country-wide shutdown; these funds are insuring the children continue to receive food and education during this crisis.  We are also collecting funds to purchase backpacks loaded with school supplies for children in Jenny Lane Trailer Park ($15 per backpack) and funds to send a pair of shoes to every child in the orphanage in Uganda ($25 per pair).  If you want to give, you can go online and give on the website or through the Church Center app- www.tsf-church.com/give   We hope you will join us in these ministries!

We continue to investigate what the Lord might have for us regarding our location/property needs for the future of TSF- our opportunity for a spiritual legacy at TSF for years to come.   We are talking with the owners of our current building as well as exploring financing options and we covet your prayers for discernment and wisdom in the process.  We are hoping to be able to give an update to TSF in the first half of August.

As of July 19, we welcome Wes Pogue on staff as our Associate and Family Pastor.  We are thrilled to have Wes serving with us and look forward to how his stable and creative leadership helps TSF be excellent in ministry and outreach for years to come.  Welcome Wes and his family into this new position of service and ministry!  Sam and Lauren Woo will be transitioning out of TSF on July 18 to attend Denver Theological Seminary and we pray for God’s best on them as they continue the path to someday be on the mission field in China.

These Elder updates are part of what we want to do better in terms of overall communication.  We also want you to know that our Elders are available for you to contact.  Those details are can be found at the top of the page.

Thanks for being an incredible church family and we look forward to all the Lord has for us together at TSF!
