Christmas in Genesis
Have you ever overreacted to a situation where your punishment for a real or perceived wrong didn't fit the crime? Ever been on the receiving end of such a punishment? Its not too hard for us to distinguish that we're off-balance in the area of meting out justice. We are so messed up in our understanding of what justice is that we often don't know how to give it, receive it or discern it. But what about God? Does he overreact? If you think about the Genesis story, about Adam and Eve and their fall from grace and their sin, it all seems a little bit too much, doesn't it? Once you gain a biblical view of sin and our problem, you begin to understand that not only was God's punishment well deserved but his grace at Christmas through Jesus is equally astounding.
