ClosePeople do all kinds of things that to many people seem crazy. They climb mountains risking frost bite and avalanches. They dive into the deepest parts of the ocean risking attack by predators and decompression sickness. They soar into the sky at intensely high speeds and risk mechanical/vehicle failure. Why would anyone do this? The more fascinating thing is why don't more people attempt things like this? Its just the few that do these things. Apart from opportunity, perhaps the greatest determining factor is commitment. Not that anyone is lacking commitment, but that most are committed to something less than the highest highs, the lowest lows, the fastest speeds, the greatest things. Because we have a lower commitment and are committed to achieving that, we begin to arrange our world in such a way that we can reach our own commitments. Christ was committed to a high goal, and he calls us to be similarly committed to something, Someone, that is so great most of us can't imagine it!
