Listen: Lies or Wisdom
The human ear is a pretty amazing instrument. It can detect very quiet sounds, high pitched sounds, sounds that are low in the registry, and sounds that are so loud they cause the listener pain. Of course there are limitations to what we can hear, but the thing for us to focus on is listening. How much we probably miss every day simply because we're not listening! Repeatedly in Isaiah, God tells people to listen to him, to hear what he says and to be prepared to obey it. But many of us are listening to competing voices and we refuse to hear the Lord- so he starts to speak very loudly. We must pray for open ears so that we hear the words of the Lord and are prepared to obey what he is saying because it is also the choice between life and death.
