From Judgement to Belief
"Now is our chance to breathe without tyranny, released from the blinding of false light. Now is our chance... Now is... our chance... In weakness we are freed.." - "The Blinding of False Light" by As I Lay Dying -- The assumption many of us have about those who don't know Christ is that they are desperately trying to get out of their current life; that they are diligently seeking God. If wasn't for their darkness, their blindness, they would find him! Jesus addresses this directly in this text from John and explains that one of the curses of our condition without God is that we are stuck in our blindness but we think we are in light. So, in many ways, our blindness is a double-blindness because we think we can see. We must let go of our light and turn to the Light of the World if we are to truly see.
