Looking at Yesterday to See Tomorrow (Romans 5:1-4, Hebrews 12:1-4)

Pastor Joe Sanders, November 28, 2010
Part of the Standalone series, preached at a Sunday Morning service

The past year has brought us many unexpected things and probably didn't turn out exactly the way most of us expected it to. Twists and turns have come our way and we've had to adjust to them or risk being run over by them. Births have occurred, careers have changed, sickness has come, championships have been won and lost- all over the course of the last year. We spend some time looking back at the last year and the many ways that God has seen us through so that we can go forward into tomorrow with confidence knowing that God is with us.

Romans 5:1-4

1Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: 2By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. 3And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; 4And patience, experience; and experience, hope: (KJV)

Hebrews 12:1-4

1Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, 2Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. 3For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds. 4Ye have not yet resisted unto blood, striving against sin. (KJV)
